Question

Color settings change when changing computer (windows to Mac) and premiere version (2017 to 2020)

hello, I have problems with the color grading and color adjustments that I applied on a window computer with the version of premiere 2017 when transferring the project to Machintosh with the latest version of premiere.

I have applied the same Luts and looks and kept the same grading color settings applied.

Can anybody help me?

Most likely this has to do with the now infamous gamma thing in Quicktime.

Hi @Catalina5E24,

What kinds of problems? Can you show us some screenshots? What is the source footage? What are your sequence settings? What kind of Mac and what are its components? Let us know more info, please.

Thanks,
Kevin

Also be aware of the mis-application of the Rec.709 standards in the Mac color management utility ColorSync. It doesn't apply both the scene (camera) and display transform functions, just the camera function. And it uses a very non-standard gamma of 1.96 or 1.95 (depending on who does the measuring how) rather than 2.4

So, within Premiere on that Mac, make sure you have the "display color management" option selected in the General tab of the Preferences dialog. Viewing the file outside of Premiere on a Mac, well ... that's a problem.

Catalina,

Did you use custom LUTs? Did you install them into the app package? Many people installed them that way and that wasn't correct. This may help: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-premiere-pro-lumetri-color-custom-lut-directory-and-location/m-p/4785911
