Colors totally oversaturated after importing - Premiere

Colours are way off after importing in Premiere.

 

Tried switching to different versions of Premiere, didnt help. 

Enabled display color management, tried setting sequence to Rec 709, and basically every other hint I could find on the web. No improvement whatsoever.

 

I cannot choose color management options when right clicking -> modify -> interpret footage.

 

See attached pictures for my settings.

 

This issue only comes up with my 2020 Macbook Pro with i7 and Intel Iris Plus graphics. Not when using my Macbook Air M1 processor.

    So I was just able to solve the problem by turning off hardware acceleration in preferences -> media. That seemed to have caused the problem for me. 

    Hence I havent tried your method yet as this worked out. Still thank you for your help Neil, you´re awesome!

    Ah, XT4 clip in "full" range. That might be the issue right there. Go to the Effects folder, look for the Lumetri presets for legal-to-full and full-to-legal conversions. Drop the full-to-legal one on the clip, see if that improves things.

     

    To explain something here: no YUV (technically, Y/Cb-Cr) media is (by standards) supposed to be 'full' range, it should be 'legal' range. And note, this has NOTHING whatever to do with 'keeping all the data' or anything, it's just how the file is encoded and then played back.

     

    All YUV media should be in 'legal' range, all RGB media (normally only the 12-bit & higher 4444 codecs) should be 'full'. And Premiere will see YUV media properly as legal range.

     

    So if you can set the camera for it, change that to shooting in legal range. Things will just work.

     

    I know it doesn't sound right, but ... it is. Confused me when I first went from stills to video too.

        Yes, yep. Your GPU might be insufficient.
