Complete workflow interruption

Premiere Pro is not behaving as it should.

I have tried reinstalling it, dumping cache, all of the recommendations.

When I open a new file and import footage, when I attempt to put the footage into the timeline, the program seems to not do it.

If I try another action, the footage shows up.

Its like the program is one step behind me.

If I drag select multiple pieces, the drag select box stays on the screen until I try another action.

This makes using Premiere impossible.
Any thoughts?

All updated.

Actually figured this out after several hours of troubleshooting.

There was a problem with the audio file.

Not sure what problem it was, but when I mixed it down to a yucky mp3, the issue was gone.

The funny thing is I didnt change a single thing in my usual workflow...but that one .wav was somehow the issue.

Weird...

Anyhow...moving on to finish the edit

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card? I have other problems with 14.6 release, like weird curves on audio keyframes while set on linear, but not something so extreme like yours.
