Confused about how to replace transcript

I have a clip in Chinese. The transcription is accurate, but the in-app translation is ignoring the sentence breaks and incorrectly translating. I exported the transcript as a text file with timing, then fixed the translation. But in the transcript window, "importing corrected transcript (txt)" doesn't do anything, and "import static transcript" doesn't recognize the txt file.

I also tried exporting the transcription as a json.prtranscript file, but I cannot view the contents—it's gibberish, even in Visual Studio Code.

So,  what I need help doing, in a nutshell, is to export a transcript with times from PP and then re-import a translation of the same transcript.

Update: I figured out a way to do it. Had to retranscribe, then in captions tab choose "upload captions from file," and choose the translated file. This process could be much clearer lol.
