Question

Converting captions from "subtitle" to CEA-708 increases font size of caption

Hi, I have captions (Subtitles) I need to convert to CEA-708 for export.
When I switch it to CEA-708, the system enlarges the caption font quite considerably. I've tried then fixing the font size and saving it as a style but it then reverts to calling the capiton a "subtitle" instead of CEA-708. Any ideas on what can be done or any further understanding of this anyone can give me. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Teri,

That is the nature of 708, fewer style options and for TV embeds, the user decides the size.

I don't think a style can change a track type. Screenshot?

How are you going to use the 708? Embed?

Hi Stan,
I did all the captions as "subtitles" for a 90 min. film.
Then realized they needed to be CEA-708 so I changed them from Subtitle
to CEA-708.
It then made the subtitles really big so big the sentences were no
longer fitting on the screen.
I then resized them all and saved the Style.
However I am not clear they are still CEA-708 as it again shows as
"subtitle".

I just want to make sure I send the right file.

Thank you for your kindness in helping me with this.
They would be submitted as an SRT file.

Teri,

Are you sure you need 708 if you are exporting srt? It will carry almost nothing to distinguish as 708.

To change Subtitle to 708, you right clicked the subtitle track, picked edit, and changed to 708? Style could not change that. Are you didn't do an "undo" operation somewhere in there?
