Premier pro 2025 continuous failure 5/3/2025

Issue Summary:
Premiere Pro 2025 crashes consistently when accessing > Settings. The app launches, imports media, and functions in most ways, but accessing any of the > Settings menu triggers a fatal error. All other Adobe Creative Cloud apps function normally.

Steps Taken to Troubleshoot (Chronological):

1. Initial Trigger & Behaviour
1.1. Launched Premiere Pro 2025 after about a month of non-use — it was working recently without any issues.
1.2. App opened to splash screen, then showed: “Sorry, an error occurred. An error report has been generated.”
1.3. Crash occurred consistently after the splash screen. I could not get the app to get past splash screen.

  1. 2. Basic Fix Attempts
2.1. Reset preferences using Shift + Command + Option on launch.
    2.2. App launched successfully afterward.
2.3. On attempting to configure a three-monitor workspace (left bin, centre edit, right playback), the crash returned. “Sorry, an error occurred. An error report has been generated.”

    3. Full Reinstall Procedure
    3.1. Uninstalled all Adobe apps.
    3.2. Rebooted Mac.
    3.3. Uninstalled Creative Cloud entirely.
3.4. Used Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to wipe all residual files.
3.5. Reinstalled Creative Cloud (after issues downloading it via some browsers).
    3.6. Reinstalled Premiere Pro 2025.

    4. Post-Reinstall Behaviour
    4.1. Premiere Pro launched.
4.2. Imported footage, scrubbed timeline — worked fine.
4.3. Could access workspaces (Editing, Effects, etc.).
4.4. Could open Keyboard Shortcuts and reassign them.
4.5. However, accessing any of the > Settings menu triggers the same fatal error/crash.  “Sorry, an error occurred. An error report has been generated.”

    5. Other App Behaviour
5.1. Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Character Animator all open and function normally.
5.2. Only After Effects showed a minor error once but opened after skipping preferences.
5.3. All other apps allow access to > Settings/ preferences and customizations without crashing.

    Current Status:
    • Premiere Pro 2025 remains unusable when accessing > Settings and with that it is barely usable
    • All other Adobe CC apps work fine.
    • Issue is persistent despite multiple clean reinstalls and preference wipes.
    • Nothing on forums or official support threads has resolved the problem.

    Conclusion / Request:
At this point, I’ve exhausted every fix I could find online, including Adobe’s own cleaner tool, full suite reinstalls, and manual preference resets. The issue appears to be isolated to Premiere Pro 2025 and specifically tied to the > Settings. I cannot set up PP properly to edit without access to the settings

    I’d appreciate help identifying:
    • Whether this is a known bug in the latest Premiere Pro version.
    • Any deeper level of uninstall or diagnostic I’ve missed.
    • And if the issue is temporary and if so for how long before it will be resolved?

Hi,

I can understand how frustrating this must be. Please try granting Full Disk Access to Premiere Pro (https://adobe.ly/3GGQrEj). This issue might be permissions-related.

If that doesn't help, open the Reset Options menu (https://adobe.ly/3YrweZe) and only check the "Disable third-party plugins" option. Let us know if the app functions as expected in that launch instance.

Permission issues can also be caused by cloud backup services. If you have the "Desktop and Document folders" option enabled in iCloud, please try turning it off. (https://adobe.ly/3RPpgcI.).

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Ishan
