Question

Creating a video that will play transparently on a display case

Hey all, I'm putting together a promotional video for my company. The tricky thing about this is that I need the video to project transparently onto a special sunglasses display case . By accomplishing this, you will be able to see the video, as well as, the sunglasses behind the video. So I think I need to export the video with alpha channel, and 50% opacity. Not really sure if this will work though. Has anyone out there rendered transparent video to be played on a screen allowing you to see what is behind it in real life?

Thanks,

Nic Deyo

You're projecting so an alpha channel is irrelevant. You just need a black background.

I am with Dave on this one.

The Sunglass display needs to be (semi) transparant.

You probably need to construct or replace you video edit within an After Effects composition.  Default background of Ae is transparent while Pr is black solid.

Default background of Ae is transparent while Pr is black solid.

That's incorrect.  Black is simply what shows when there is nothing there.  If you export out to a format with Alpha, the black will be transparent.

Some one needs to Project a file with an Alpha channel to see if it Projects as Black or Transparent.

Could  be tested with a psd or png with alpha as well if that easier.

I am curious but do not have a projector.
