Creative look switched after I open back Premiere Pro (v23.5)

This problem is happening to me on a regular basis these last days. I apply a creative look / LUT "A" on a layer / rush. I make my export, save and quit project. I come back a few days later, open the project, and every creative look / LUT "A" applied has switched to another creative look / LUT "B".

That's what I expected.

And that is a HUGE no-no! Seriously, and for good reasons.

Because that folder is expected to be the exact duplicate of the same folder in AfterEffects and MediaEncoder. By the three applications.

Which have been encoded to access LUTs from their included folders by relative location in the computer alpha-numerically sorted folder. Not by LUT name!

So they only see them as ... say, you applied the 10th LUT down. But then you add a LUT with an A initial letter ... so the LUT you applied previously is now the 11th LUT down. Oops, the program now applies the one before the one you expect.

They have a chart on their Help files for LUTs, get used to checking their Help on such things. There are two locations each, in PCs and Macs, where you can store your files. Even by whether you want them to particular users on that computer.

I use Program [package] files/Adobe/COMMON/LUTs as the general location. Within that, you create the Technical folder for Basic tab use, Creative folder for Creative tab use, and Input folder for color management Input LUT use.

And put your LUTs in the appropriate folder for where you will be using them in Lumetri.

Now, they will be seen by name across all three apps.

Kylee,

Well ... changes in LUT applications would certainly be appreciated!

What is being considered?

Just sorting the "included" LUTs folders by absolute (name) rather than position (relative)? Or listing any LUTs used in the seqeunce by folder/name? Or having a single LUT folder tree, maybe in the Adobe/Common folder?

As the first would improve things in Premiere but of course, still be a problem for either After Effects or MediaEncoder work.

The second ... would meant that wherever a LUT was placed, the sequence would 'remember', but might not pop the LUT up for browsing ... it would seem ...

And changing to a straight-forward, single location across the apps would seem to be the "cleanest" solution.

Also ... are you considering allowing us to use folders to organize our LUTs? That would show in the drop down lists?

Hey there! While Neil is correct about the order of LUTs needing to be the same at the moment, that's also not a great user experience (where else do you need the order of files to be the same??) -- so we're fixing this very soon. Doesn't help you right now, but wanted to let you know anyway!

Thank you Neil,

Here are some of the elements you ask :
LUTs used are ones I've added, in the following file : "Adobe Premiere Pro 2023 : Lumetri : Luts : Creative" (I believe I've always used this path in the past without any issue that I can remember)
All LUTS are in .cube format, and the I didn't remove the original LUTs from the program.

Best regards,

JB

What LUT or LUTs is/are in use ... ones that came with the program, or ones you've added?

Have you added or removed any LUTs in the Premiere Pro program folder with the original LUTs that come with the program?
