Cropping Video

Hello,

As a new Premier Pro user, I'm wondering how to crop video.

We've shot some footage on a green screen background, but this has been shot with the edges of the studio in it. We are unable to go back and reshoot, so I'm wondering if we're able to crop this out?

And if so, how? The resolution otherwise is fine.

The easiest method is probably an Opacity Mask on the clip.

Use Transform > Crop. I'm sure youve figured it out already.

Best is not to use the mask feature from the crop effect.

They dont go together very well.

Use a mask from Opacity instead.

You can use the Effects Control panel, the Video Effects at the top ... the Motion/size/position controls there.

This was pretty helpful for me too, although I just wanted to keep the corner of the video to add to another video, and wound up shrinking the frame and recentering, since I didn't need a full size frame for mine.  Wouldn't have thought of it if I hadn't seen this though!

Use masks to eliminate areas around your subject.  Garbage Matte technique.
