Curiosity: LUT, Transform, or Color Management ...

Just curious here. There are tons of comments on threads of this forum, where users get a different look to the image than they expect. Virtually all start out by stating there's some mystery LUT that Premiere is applying.

Between the three main potential causes for such issues , a LUT, a transform, or a color management issue, why does everyone seem to assume a LUT?

I'm just puzzled, and trying to understand.

Of the three, a color management choice would typically be the best option for handling color issues in any application. A transform is easily the second. And applying a LUT is way, way back in third.

So ... why the universal assumption any odd color issue is a mystery LUT? Rather than a mis-application of color management, or an inappropriate transform choice?

There's no right or wrong here, and perhaps many users aren't familiar with the differences between them. I'm just curious. Would love to hear any replies ... why assume a LUT rather than CM or tranforms?
