Question

[dark] Footage is not playing or exporting correctly from premiere v 14.1 or v 14

I have a new iMac Pro with 128GB of RAM with Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 and mp4 footage in Premiere 2020 looks FAR darker than it's supposed to. Grading it does nothing. It doesn't look correct in the preview window and it stays that way on export. Occasionally, it will flicker back to it's original look, but will not stay that way.

Please help.

Here's an excellent article by Steve Shaw of LightIllusions.com, one of the two companies that supply most of the calibration/profiling software used by professional video colorists and such ...

Why Master on a Calibrated Display?

It's a very nice and easy to understand discussion of why standards matter ... why they are not built into any system out there ... and why you need to adhere to them in order for your material to be ... and look ... as professional as anyone else out there.

Included is a section directly talking about the unique Apple-only Display-P3 color space and their intriguing ColorSync colormanagement utility.

Appreciate the response, John.

So what's strange here is some of the clips are randomly darker, while others stay true to the original look of the footage. It's very odd. So I don't think this is display-related.
