Decompose Offline Clip

How do you decompose offline clips?  I have several clips that I need to capture from tape and the clips have media start and media end for the whole tape,but have video in point and video out point for the just the portions i need.  There is no easy way to change get rid of the unused media.

    You can either:

    Capture only the parts you want

    or

    Export an intermediate file from the full tape capture and import the intermediate file.
