Question

Different file types in Timeline don't work

In PP2022 -

I’m working on a project using several different kinds of video files. Everything looks good in the Source window, and when I drop ONE clip into the Timeline, it’s all good.
But, when I try to add an ADDITIONAL clip to the Timeline it comes in all blown-out, or looking like it’s at 70% opacity. No matter what order I try.
Like, if I drag some jpgs in first, they’re good, but then the next entry, like a video clip, looks awful. Same with vice versa.
I’ve been trying everything I can think of, have started multiple projects using different approaches, searching and posting on forums for hours, and I can’t figure it out. PLEASE HELP!! Thank you!

Hi kellyb64856778,

Sorry to hear about this. It seems like you are working with media files with different color spaces. In such cases, you may experience such preview issues if the color space is not configured properly. To fix this issue, you would need to manually assign the same color space to the media files.
You may try either of these two methods.

  • Right click on PARK-TEST.mp4 in the project panel > Modify > Interpret Footage > Color Management > set Color Space Override to Rec. 2100 HLG.
  • Sequence > Sequence Settings > Video tab > set Working Color Space to Rec. 709
Right click on TEST-COFFEE.mov in the project panel > Modify > Interpret Footage > Color Management > set Color Space Override to Rec.709

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Sumeet
