Question

DJI MavicPro Footage stilted when rendered

Today I woke up to a new Premiere problem. The footage from yesterday's shoot is not playing back properly. If imported without a proxy I get the standard lag. To avoid this, I ingest my 4K footage into proxies for my timeline. Immediately, I noticed a lag in the proxy playback in some of the clips. When I drop them into the timeline and render all I get is still/freeze frames instead of video.

I've tried:

  • multiple sequence settings (footage native, AVC-I 100 1080i60)
  • creating new Premiere projects
  • using Media Encoder to output different formats (ProRes 422, H264, GoPro)
  • GPU Acceleration & Software Only
  • even opened previous projects to discover they're doing the same thing too

All of which give me the same still frames instead of video once I prerender in my timeline.

Current footage properties are as follows:

Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 457.78 MB
Image Size: 3840 x 2160
Frame Rate: 29.97
Total Duration: 00:00:38:12
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Alpha: None
Video Codec Type: HEVC 10 bit 4:2:0

I have the exact same problem with the latest Version of Premiere Pro. Thanks for the workaround with an After Effects Composition.

I finally found a work-around, but it's an ugly thing to have to do. I have to import my footage into AfterEffects and output as ProRes 422. This makes very little sense.

I forgot to mention, if I bring in the footage without making a proxy its playback is stilted slow as usual. However, if I render it also goes to just a freeframe/still.
