DJI Prores RAW - Proxy Generation - colour space issue

Bug Report: ProRes RAW Proxy Generation Metadata Override Bug

Issue Description:
Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder consistently fail to retain custom RAW Source Settings / Color Management metadata when generating proxies from DJI ProRes RAW 16-bit files. The background proxy engine strips the RAW metadata, resulting in heavily distorted, blown-out, over-saturated, or clipped proxy files, even when the timeline playback looks correct

Troubleshooting Steps Attempted (All Failed):

  1. Manual Interpret Footage Override
    • Action: Selected source clips in the Project Panel, used Modify > Interpret Footage and manually forced the Override Media Color Space to Rec. 709 / DJI Log profiles
    • Result: Failed. While the appearance corrected itself natively inside the Premiere timeline, Media Encoder stripped this override during the proxy render queue
  2. Sequence Auto Tone Mapping
    • Action:Verified sequence settings had Auto Tone Map Media enabled with a standard Rec. 709 working color space
    • Result: Failed to resolve the proxy issue. The source files on the timeline conformed visually, but the background proxy generation process bypassed this mapping entirely.

Current Workaround Required:

Due to Premiere Pro’s inability to reliably process ProRes RAW metadata during background rendering, I am forced to completely bypass Premiere for ingestion. I must ingest the files into DaVinci Resolve, manually apply the camera RAW color space transforms, and export independent intermediate files (tested with ProRes 4444 and ProRes Proxies) with matching filenames to use inside Premiere Pro.

This is extremely time consuming, so I’d love a fix for this in the future or if there’s something I’ve missed - please let me know!
