Question

DNG image files imported into premiere pro

I shot the footage with a 2K Blackmagic Cinema camera, and it is being read by the computer as dng image files.  When I went to go play them back as footage in Premiere Pro, the sound from the camera plays but not the footage.  How do I get the footage?

this was shot using your camera and edited in resolve 15. I had to go through about 5 batteries to do it in my own residence ( I am poor retired person in affordable housing section 8 ).

Go to the 4k and you can do a lot more...

unfortunately, Adobe is crippled by over designing lowest common denominator of 'social media' type auto ( easy for idiot ) functions.

They are not alone in this endeavor. It took 27 calzone cases to build ONE ( 1 ) 35mm panaflex film camera and cost over ONE (1 ) million dollars.... you could only rent the cameras as they were NEVER sold. Kept theft down due to serial numbers etc.

Now ( TODAY ) they are being used as boat moorings in small sailboat marinas all over the world.

I had your orignal BMPCC and now have the 4k version. I had the lastest firmware update on the original camera ( DNG ). The newer 4k uses BRAW. Different animals. NO, you cannot get anything other than DNG out of the original.

NO, you cannot use adobe for DNG and NO, it is not loaded into editor as image sequence.

You could use free Resolve 15 ( don't use higher version unless you have super powerful computer and I mean REALLY super powerful ). Start with 15.. it will do the trick.

Import the DNG by choosing the folder that has your footage and export as intermediate to use ADOBE. Otherwise just work in Resolve.

ps:

the original is absolutely HORRIBLE for camera battery life and crop factor ( 2.88 for MFT ? ) as it's like a super 16mm chip size. The 4K is way better. Larger chip and Canon Batteries. Way better battery life and BRAW is adjustable ( the compression levels). Plus you can get prores instead and so on...

If you possibly can, get a 4K cause you can use the same MFT lenses and it's much better camera. Crop factor more like 2X ( like normal MFT cameras )... good luck.

disclaimer:

If someone gave me an original BMPCC to shoot with I would throw it off the Brooklyn Bridge into the East River while screaming, " I HATE YOU !!!! "  Just so you know.

If you update the firmware for that camera, does it change to using BM-RAW instead of the DNG files? If you can, I'd recommend changing to that format.

I seem to remember there is a certain way to import an image sequence into premiere.  You might do a google for "how to import an image sequence into premiere..."  but image sequence files are very drive intensive and you might do better to either convert them into an easier to digest format or explore a proxy workflow.
