I heard that Nvidia cripples the consumer line of cards when it comes to OpenGL/CUDA applications 10-bit support.

Correct answer Averdahl

The limitation is 10-bit output to a preview monitor that is 10-bit capable. 10-bit output is Quadro only.

But, working with 10-bit footage in Premiere Pro/Photoshop can be done without issues with the GTX or RTX series.

Actually, 10-bit output is supported on GTX cards (at least the 1080ti) if your monitor supports it.

I have the choice of YCbCr 422 and 444 as well in the color format.

, I was not aware of this. Before i posted my answer i looked at Nvidias specs but they do not mention it there but understand it now since they want to continue to sell the Quadros. For many years the Quadros were the only 10-bit output cards.

Thanks for chiming in!
