Drag and drop MP4 from local File Explorer only loads 1 second

Looks like with the latest April Premiere Pro CC update any media files (in my case MP4 clips) only import the first second of footage when dragging and dropping from my file explorer on win 10 into my PremPro app/project window no matter the actual length. I see under the latest 12.1 update "known Issues" - Media Related: can't drag and drop footage into Premiere from an external file browser...so this includes my pc's file browser? How else can you import video footage to make a project? This seems like a pretty serious bug that leaves little options for a workaround. If I have large video files on my pc that I normally use to make projects, it makes for a difficult time to create a new project. I verified this issue is only in the new update by rolling back to 12.0.1 and everything for drag and drop works perfectly, using the same mp4 files, which then don't work in the latest update so definitely the new software that has broken this and needs to be fixed. Any workaround or idea as to when Adobe is going to fix this issue? Help...this makes the program for me pretty useless.

To update, I contacted Adobe support and worked with them online using share/control screen and this is where we left things.

Adobe acknowledged this issue should not be happening (even though my digital content is from an Elgato HD60 capture). They said it would be escalated and should get fixed within a subsequent update/patch TBD.

We also used Handbrake to transcode one of my clips that was exhibiting the 1 second load and see if it would work afterwards, which it did so that is a temporary workaround albeit not too convenient. It can take a significant amount of time for this process to finish depending on clip footage size.

In the meantime I think rolling back to 12.0.1 is easier for me since I can continue dragging and dropping footage as I need it to build projects without delay.

Thanks for your help and support Jim and Stan...I will consider this issue closed/answered at this point.

Hi Jim thanks for the tip. I did try the media browser as an option before posting my issue, sorry I didn't specify that in the details originally. It had the same issue as drag and drop so no difference, still only loads 1 second/frame of the clip.

This seems like a pretty critical bug so I really hope that a patch will come out to correct it soon. Short of rolling back to the last release of 12.0.1 doesn't seem like there is much else that will allow one to pull in media to create any new projects or work on anything existing with additional media, given this limitation.

OK.

What camera was used to record the footage?
