Dragging text into a bin

So I created some text that I need added to multiple parts of my project, whilst editing the text each incarnation. To save time, I dragged this text to a bin for easy access every time I needed it. Upon being dragged out of the bin for use in the project, the text is now considered a graphic and I am unable to edit the text of it.

Secondly, I found the text I had dragged into the bin originally had also been turned into a graphic, so I tried to undo it, and found that undo ignores the fact that the text was changed, so It forces me to start again from the beginning by creating new text.

Is there a way to save text (as a template basically) in a bin/somewhere with easy access, without it doing this? And why does undo not change the text's state back to the original?
