Dropdown menus disappear after a second

  • Issue – I run two PC editing computer labs. In versions 25 and 26 (newest) of PP, when we click on any drop menu option (“Workspaces” drop menu on main screen, any drop menus in the Preferences section such as Audio hardware, etc.) the drop menu shows up for about one second then dissapears.
  • Steps to reproduce – for example, go to Preferences → Audio Hardware → and click Input to reveal teh drop menu for all the inputs. You can also do this with the Workspaces dropmenu option in the upper-right  corner of PP
  • Expected result –teh drop menu should show up and stay available until you choose an item from it
  • Actual result – the drop menu options will show up for a half-second to one sec and dissapear before you can click anything.
  • Screen recording – If you think it might be helpful, include a recording of your screen, showing the issue.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version –PP 26.0.0 (build 72)
  • Operating system – Windows 11 Education, Version 24H2
  • GPU driver version (Windows only) – ??
  • Video format – If your issue is related to video playback or export, please let us know what format the video is in. Ideally, share with us a sample video.
  • Comparative information - it affects all projects on STUDENT logged-in computers, it does not seem to affect TEACHER-logged-in computers

So the Veyon system that our school strarted using IS the problem. Here is the work-around:

Veyon, specifically its service that handles screen monitoring and window management, is known to conflict with Adobe Premiere Pro by causing dropdown menus, dialog boxes, and the "New Item" button to close immediately upon clicking.

    Here is a workaround:

    The Direct Fix (Veyon Configurator)

This is the most effective solution that allows both programs to run simultaneously without uninstaling Veyon.

    • Open "Veyon Configurator" on the machine running Premiere Pro.
    • Switch to Advanced View (or Advanced Settings).
    • Select "Windows" in the left-hand menu.
    • Locate the option: "Handling of interfering windows".
    • Set this option to "None".
    • Click "Apply".

    Hi @Smitty KC
Here is a link tool-tips-Dropdown-buttons-not-working-in-2025 with a known issue that may have the answer you're looking for. When students log in, the user profile may be using monitoring software such as Veyon, which could be the culprit. Check the version of Veyon you have. If it is  Veyon 4.8 or less, Premiere should work as expected. If you are still having issues, let me know.
    Here to help.

Yes, it turns out the school is running Veyon, and that’s the problem. Thanks! Any work-around?

Gave that a try, but it didn’t work. Thanks, though.

    Hi sharp_partner0967,

Welcome to the community! Please check Ian’s response above. Are you also using Veyon on the system?

    Thanks,
