Question

Dynamic Link between Premiere pro + After Effects is slow

The past 2 updates and the dynamic link between premiere pro and after effects is getting slower and slower. When I want to import an AE comp in Premiere, the pop-up window will open and to select the comp. Some cases for me, I would have to select it twice (select the comp once - hit ok; then I would have to do it again) just so the comp will import into the premiere bin. Other times, the import pop-up window will take a few minutes to load up the AE comps for me to select. Is this just me or is there a fix?

I have had to select the comp twice for a while now.

But since updating to Prem 2019, playback is un-useable. Before it was choppy but rendering would sort it out. Now it goes into the hours to render 3-5 seconds...

Back to 2018 for me i think, this and the legacy title problems is making it horrible to use.

Clearing the cache in AE while Media encoder is going usually speeds up the render fairly substantially

Seems like our issues with dynamic is cache related. I'll spend time over thanksgiving break to clean out all cache folders, and remove unused/old plugins & luts. I'll report back if I notice a difference in performance.

It's not just you. I've found a simple solution that works most of the time.

Either switch to a background application quickly and back to premiere (sometimes works). Or go into after effects while Dynamic Link is freezing and clear the ram. Usually when you flip back to premiere it fixes itself.

Hope this helps?
