Question

Dynamic Link error From PP->AE

Hey everyone,

I am trying to send over some shots from premiere to AE by selecting the clips, then selecting 'Replace with AE Composition".  It opens up AE, shows the assets in the project, and then they disappear.  An error comes up in PP and says 'Adobe After Effects must be installed to import this file'.

Does anyone have a resolution to this error? I have uninstalled/installed both software and haven't had any different results.

Hi jwvanmeter22,

Sorry for the issue with Dynamic Link. It seems like there is a version conflict between the installed After Effects & Premiere Pro.

Dynamic Link require both apps to be updated to the same dot version.

Please check the version numbers: FAQ: How to find the exact version of Premiere Pro you're using?

Thanks,

Vidya

Hi Vidya-

Yeah I made sure both were the same versions.  I uninstalled/installed both applications to try and correct the issue but haven't had any results.  The work around that I have to do is to import a PP project into AE.  Achieves the same thing but is a little bit of a workaround.

Any other thoughts on how this can be resolved?  Or is this a bug multiple people are experiencing?

Thanks.

Hi jwvanmeter22,

Thanks for the reply. Something might be blocking Dynamic Link. Do you have Firewall or Anti-virus installed in the machine? If yes, for a test, disable them & check the issue.

Also, create a new Administrator account in the OS, login to it & check the issue.

Thanks,

Vidya
