Question

Dynamic Link files from After Effects in Premiere timeline won't render or play.

I've followed the convoluted work around found in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsmBCwRAitg&t=3s. So that my color would match. I was able to render my timeline of on Friday and even export it. However now on Monday It won't render (there is has been no change but yes, I need to make changes). Can you fix the color management between Premiere and After Effects. How long has dynamic linking existed? Shouldn't color management be seamless by now?

Hi Clay. First off, I'm the one that did that video, and I'll be the first to agree that it's convoluted and a crazy workaround for pre-25.2 versions of Premiere.

In 25.2 and newer, I wouldn't recommend this as a workflow. You should be able to right-click on a clip, Replace with After Effects Composition, and Premiere will launch AE, create a new project with the correct color management, and even bring over the color transform of any supported LOG or RAW media.

So I had done that (right-click on a clip, Replace with After Effects Composition in Premiere) and a few months later the client asks for a simple change. So I go to open the projects and the Premiere project opens but the After Effects project freezes After Effects and won't load. I now have to re-do the project from scratch.
