Editing clip in Audition sounds different if exported

So I’m having strange a problem with editing a clip in Audition from Premiere where the clip sounds different if I save the Extracted Audio file directly from audition as opposed to exporting the file and bringing that into Premiere. I have a clip that I’m using noise reduction on and after I edit it in Audition and save it out I can still hear a significant about of noise that I cannot hear in audition. But if I export the file from Audition and import that into Premiere the noise is lower and the same as I hear in Audition. Both files are .wav and the same sample rate. It’s not a huge difference but definitely one you can hear.

I was able to test this and discovered it had to do with sending a stereo file to Audition. It seems the noise reduction on the stereo channels can interfere with each other (or overlap?) and was giving me the strange sounds. Exporting the file from Audition was giving me a mono file so that’s why I didn’t hear it. Switching the field in Premiere to mono fixed this problem.

No worries, I'm on a couple of dealines this week but as soon as I can I'll do some more testing and write up a bug report!

Hi James,

I'm Kevin from Support, one of the moderators here. Thanks for filing the bug. Has this happened in the past with the same workflow? You might try installing Premiere Pro and Audition Beta to see if the issue is the same there. Can you also give the team more information? See, How do I write a bug report?

I hope the team can help you shortly. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,

Kevin
