Question
Effect Controls: hidden filter state triggered by partial numeric edit + Enter (UI shows “All,” panel behaves as “Edited Only”)
Environment
- Premiere Pro: 25.6.3 (Build 2)
- OS: Windows 11 Enterprise 26200.8037
- CPU: Intel Core i9-7920X @ 2.90GHz
- RAM: 64GB
- GPU: NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 (31.0.15.5186)
- I/O: Blackmagic DeckLink Studio 4K (14.4.1.0)
Summary
Effect Controls panel enters a filtered state (Edited Only) after committing a partial numeric edit with Enter, while the UI toggle remains on “Show All Properties.” This is a UI state desynchronization: the panel is filtered but labeled as unfiltered.
Repro Steps (reliable)
- Select a clip in Timeline
- Open Effect Controls
- In Motion, click a numeric field (e.g., Position/Scale)
- Partially select the value (not the entire field)
- Type a new value
- Press Enter
Expected
- Value commits
- Panel remains Show All Properties
- All properties visible
Actual
- Value commits
- Panel collapses to Edited Only (filtered)
- Toggle still reads Show All Properties (incorrect)
- Full list only returns after toggling:
- Edited Only → All
Frequency
- Intermittent but frequent with keyboard-driven edits
- Repro rate increases with partial selection + Enter (vs full replace or Tab)
Workarounds
- Double-click or Ctrl+A to fully select before typing
- Use Tab (not Enter) to commit
- Toggle Edited Only → All to refresh
Impact
- Breaks fast numeric-entry workflow
- Misleading UI state (label ≠ behavior)
- Repeated manual resets during routine adjustments
Notes / Hypothesis
- Likely panel refresh/state bug on Enter commit from partial field selection
- Not data-destructive; workflow and UX issue
Priority
Medium (high-frequency workflow disruption; low risk)
