Question

Encoding a vertical video to ProRes 422 results in a static glitched video.

I shot a video in XAVC S 4K 4:2:2 vertically and when I drop the video in Adobe Media Encoder to encode it into ProRes 422, the video results in a glitchy static screen. When I shoot horizontally I do not have this issue but for some reason I can't encode vertical video. I also noticed that if I change the preset to ProRes 4444 it has no issues but it makes no sense to me since I shot I shot in 4:2:2. Any help? Below I attached how it looks when I'm encoding it and the preview it shows and then how it looks when I drop it into Premiere Pro.

As a workaround, please try the expert's suggestion. For further investigation, would you mind sharing a media file to test on our end? Feel free to share it via DM if you do not want to share it publicly.

We're here to help.

Thanks,

I like using Shutter Encoder for that. You can give it a try: https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/
