Encore - Editing Multi-Page BD Menu in PS

This is my first attempt at creating a multi-page menu in En.  I have created the second page and placed buttons on it, which are visible when changing pages in the menu editor.   My question is how to edit a multi-page menu in PS.  If I send the menu to PS for editing, all objects on both pages are visible.   The objects on the second page are in a separate layer group, and can be hidden.  But there is no layer group for the first page.   I'm guessing in PS you have to create a layer group for the first page, place all its objects into the group, and then hide it in order to work on the second page.

     I tried this, and it seems to work, but in the menu editor, when switching from the first to second page all the objects from the first page are still displayed until the first page layer group is hidden.   Is this the correct method for editing multi-page menus?

Yes. Before saving and returning to EN, I undid the layers inside group 0. I think grouping into a group "hides" the buttons to EN.

The short answer is "yes," but I would not group the first page. Just select them and remove visibility. I don't know what will happen if you leave that page in a group when you go back to Encore. You may need to remove the group.

Edit: I tested by creating a group out of the page zero layers except the background, so it stays visible for other pages. I saved with the group, closed PS, returned to EN, and built to an iso image. When I try to open in PowerDVD17, it cannot open the .iso. I returned to EN, edit in PS, removed the group, and rebuilt. Plays fine.

So if you have a lot of buttons etc in the primary page and want to group, remove the group before you return to EN.

Stan, thanks for your help.

When you go to Edit Menu In Ps, in Ps all buttons in both layers appear. I am planning on 3 sub-menu pages, so for convenience sake I am trying to see if there is any way a page 0 layer group can work.

Through trial-and-error I have found;

In En, if you hide the page 0 layer group, when it is re-displayed all button links are lost.

In Ps, if you hide the page 0 layer group, and then save without re-displaying the group, when the menu loads back into En all button links are lost.

In Ps, if you hide the page 0 layer group, but then re-display before saving, when it loads back into En button links are preserved.

What I have not done yet is build to an .iso image to check if, even if the button links are preserved, a page 0 layer group doesn’t cause other problems.   When you closed Ps and returned to En, did you have the page 0 layer group displayed?    Joe
