Encore EOL - but why?

I have bought TMPGEnc Authoring Works 6 and for my work it works really good. I use their TMPGEnc Movie Plug-in AVC for Premiere Pro as well so chapter markers in Premiere Pro is brought into TMPGEnc Authoring Works. Encore is old and has limited import capabilities while TMPGEnc Authoring Works can import ProRes masters, CineForm masters, etc directly.

The weak spot with TMPGEnc Authoring Works is menu creation. It is template driven but it is possible to import .psd-files to use as backgrounds. No Edit Menu in Photoshop though...

If you use subtitles you will love TMPGEnc Authoring Works since the text looks as expected with no jagged edges, etc. You can import .srt-files as well.

I use Encore as well but since it has been EOL for years and i have been looking for alternatives for some time. It seems that one has two paths, consumer applications that are affordable or professional applications that you need a mortgage to buy.

DVD Architect is still aviable and updated and is now owned by Magix and is a good candidate to Encore. I bought it a while ago but you need to be aware of that it refuses complete a project with AVC video, iow H.264. It´s a well known issue and has been known for years and the recommendation is to use MPEG2 for Blu-rays, or use Vegas and export AVC. I returned the product and got my money back.

As already have been mentioned, if you have install disk and a serial number you can install Encore CS6. If you have a serial you can contact Contact Customer Care for download links. I hope the latter is correct.

All good points. But Encore (and other Adobe programs) include elements licensed from other companies for which Adobe pays royalties. That was one of the reasons Encore was not available as a trial. Most of us believe that was one of the reasons Adobe made EN end of life - the main authorcore was licensed from Sonic (which was purchased by Rovi and killed). So I hold out no hope that they will make it free.

Those of us for who purchased EN as part of a CS6 product don't have a problem (for now) because it was an easy model for Adobe to pay the royalties. When installed using the subscription, it has other issues.

The method I used to reduce burning speed was by using one PC with an external burner in addition to the internal one. I would build to an image in Encore, then use the image to burn to multiple drives using ImgBurn.
