Question

Enhance Speech crashes on some Macs with M2 chips, Sequioa

There seem to be many people experiencing Premiere crashing when it is processing the speech-to-text. There is a separate thread for macs with intel chips, but I have not been able to find help for a mac with my settings. As of now my workaround is to simply turn off the speech to text. It is a great feature if it can work.

I am a teacher at a film school and all my students have these same computers. So there are many people having this issue.

If anyone can help, or at least I'd like to make Adobe aware there are others out here with issues with different machines, maybe this information can help everyone if intel and M2 chips are having issues?

MacBook Pro 2023

Apple M2 Pro chip

32GB RAM memory

1TB hard drive memory

Sequoia V. 15.0.1

Premiere V 25

Footage reading from a USB Lacie drive.

If any other stats are helpful to know. I'm happy to share.

Thank you for your help.

HI @Alaric0101 -  I’m sorry to hear that you and your students are experiencing crashes while using the speech-to-text feature.

Are your computer systems online or offline?

Can you post a screenshot of the "media file properties" of your media?

Does the crash happen while you are editing?

Does a dialog box pop up or is it a ghost crash?

Is it all languages or only specific ones?

Please let us know, hopefully we can help you and your students from crashing further.
