"Error retrieving frame **** at time **" = Chunky Exports

Hello Team,

I am getting a "Error retrieving frame **** at time **" error when I am working on my premier project, and when I export the results are extremely 'chunky' like they are skipping many frames (despite source video being high FPS) - I noticed the errors seem to start with other MPEGS I exported from after effects. -- It's also notable that I can only directly render from Premier; Queueing to the Media Encoder results in a 'failed' export.

 

I am referencing the following post to fix the error, and have not tried using a 'dedicated' drive for my media - I was throw off by them saying it needed to be a a dedicated 'internal' drive -- I can only use USBs besides for my 1 internal harddrive as I'm on a 2020 Macbook Pro

System Specs:

OSX Big Sur: 11.6 (20G165)

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

Memory: 32 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X

Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB

Hello, rocklobster,

Sorry about that! Are you meeting system requirements? Can you check those concerning your graphics card? What kind of media are you using? Is it 4K? Let us know.

Hello Kevin

 

I looked at the system requirements and it looks like my graphics (Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB) is below the suggested 2Gig of Minimum graphics memory?

All the footage I'm using is 1024x768 MPGs exported from After Effects -----

Is there a better intermediary format I should be using from After Effects? - noticed these files dont seem to import correctly to Premier (they run fine in VLC / quicktime) but in Premier they show up like:

I seem to have solved the problem by re-exporting my source videos from after effects using "adobe stock" presets for HD in Media Encoder.
