Essential Graphics: Checkboxes and Dropdown Menus don't work

Different clients sent me mogrt files over the past months and I can import and use them perfectly. Whenever there is a check box though (for example if the text should come in from above or from the left) or a dropdown menu (f.e. 5 different background colors with Corporate Identity colors) nothing changes when I tick or untick the box or choose from the menu. Weirdly enough, some dropdown menus work – even in the same template!

 

One of them is a huge international client and I cannot image the fault on their side. I have the latest version of Premiere and AE. Tried emptying the media cache. Tried re-installing the mogrt files. I am at a loss why I can't use certain options and I haven't found anything online. So any help is much appreciated!

If I had to guess what's happening without looking at the file, I think that since you mention it's an international client, it could be that they're using After Effects in a different language version than the version of Premiere Pro you're using, and that the expressions have not been universalized to account for that. Or if they're using the same language version as you, then the expressions are broken that drive these controls.

You can check by opening the mogrt file in After Effects (File->Open. It'll extract the aep to a folder location) and see if the orange warning bar appears.

Awesome, thanks a lot! Changing the language of After Effects solved half of the problems, changing the language of Premiere Pro, too, solved the other half. Finally a solution, thanks!

(Although it would be much more elegant if Essential Graphics worked apart from the languages... but okay, I'll take two programs in English over broken Mogrts anytime!)
