Question

Essential Graphics Panel Hanging

Hi all, has anyone experienced this issue or have a solution?

If I open up a project that was saved with the Essential Graphics panel closed, Premiere fires up in 4 secs.

If I open the same project after saving it with the Essential Graphics panel open. Premiere hangs for 30 secs then slowly loads the windows as if struggling.
Closing the panel is instant, re-opening the panel causes the same long hang, so does changing the workspace from one where it's closed to one where the panels open. I also lose my video on the program monitor when it finially opens, which pops back when if I rezise the window.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated? I've done the obvious things, reset the app preferences, cleared the media cache, even uninstalled and reinstalled premiere but it's now driving me nuts!

Thanks everyone 🙂

As before, some change to the way ccLibraries load has caused this at some point this year. For me it takes 23-26 spins of the little circle. And as Sean noted, you pay the price once, then it opens OK from within pp. It doesn't happen until a project loads, ie: you get to the home screen OK, then it's the long wait when you open a project. If you open from a project, of course you get the long wait before PP opens.

I'm pretty certian that has to do with ccLibraries. It started a few builds ago.

No idea if it is or not, but what I do know is Adobe have failed to address the issue 6 months on, still happening on latest build.

If you start Premiere without the Essential Graphics panel open it starts in 6 secs, start it with it open in any layout and the startup time is 55secs. The hang happens when ever you first open the pannel, then it opens and closes fine once you get past the delay and hang.

Adobe please fix this and respond to us. thanks

Hey @seanbrennan

Sorry for the frustration! Can you yell me the following info so I can help diagnose?

  • Premiere Pro version number
  • Operating system and version number
  • Do you have a lot of mogrts in your local directory?
  • Do you have a lot of mogrts in your libraries?

Thanks!
Theresa

Don't mean to hijack Sean's thread, but I have the same issue.

Premiere Pro V 24.3.0

Win 11 Enterprise 23H2

Not a lot of mogrts.

Do not use libraries.

Thanks.

Hi @John22368521k4cl

Sorry this is affecting you. Can you try a few things for me -

  • Temporarily remove all mogrts from the EGP and restart Premiere and see if the issue resolves
  • Reset the Captions and Graphics workspace to default
  • Try the Premiere Pro beta to see if the issue resolves

Can you tell me

  • Does this happen with any project?
  • What your Windows Settings Display scale is set to?
  • What is your monitor set up like? (Monitor amount and resolution)

Thanks,

Theresa

FYI. I have just installed Premiere Pro 2023 and this issues with Essential Graphics have gone.
It's from the 2024 upgrades that something has changed.

I think I've seen something like this. Do you have cc desktop app open? I think it's something to do with Libraries in PP. Also, try creating a workspace w/out essential graphics, check and see if it loads in regular time, then try opening essential graphics. For me I could get it to work normally by removing the EG panel from the workspace. But it's painful then to open it while running...

No, CC desktop was not open. A workspace without essential graphics works perfectly fine a fast, but premiere will hang if I open it again. Solution is not to have it open or put up with the long hang when you need to use it.

Do try it with the cc desktop app open, and a workspace with Essential Graphics. I hardly have any mogrts. I even remove all the default ones. It's a problem when CCDT is not open and the EG panel, (open or closed)... is in the startup workspace. And yes, this started in 2024.0 Win11 23H2
