Exporter on Windows: temporary file _00_ at end of process / exportReturn_InternalError

Hi,

i have written a custom exporter plugin and i have noticed on Windows that when the export process is over (after exiting exSDKExport) Media Encoder will create a copy of the exported file, with the extension _00_, and then rename it and delete the original exported file.

My problem is that the format i export for produces quite big files (usually several GB), so this copy/rename process takes quite long and requires the double of space i would need.

Sometimes during this process the exporter quits and i get error code 3 in the log, which i think is  "exportReturn_InternalError", but actually at this point i have already exported all the frames and closed the file.

I have found some more information here in the forum, but i could not find any note about this process in the Premiere_SDK_Guide.

Can someone point me the where this process happens in the code?

Is there any way i can control or modify this process?

Thank you,

bye,

S.

To what output format(s) are you rendering, when you see that behavior?

That post-render copy step is common with .mp4 formats; it likely won't occur with most formats. It's only performed for formats which require it, and there's no programmatic control over the process.

If XMP actually is the culprit, you should be able to avoid the problem by turning off XMP  meta-data output.

Hi Bruce,

i set the Metadata Export option to "None" in the preferences and it solved the issue.

One more thing: i have looked on the sdk manual but i could not find anything about programmatically unchecking the metadata option, is it something that can be done?

Thank you anyway, this spares us a great lot of time and space..

bye,

Simone.

Metadata output is controllable via the API; see PProPanel.

Thank you Bruce,

actually i changed the SDK_file example to export to a custom codec using a Quicktime .mov container, no .mp4 here.

Do you have any idea why this process is triggered then?

Thank you,

S.

Whenever PPro/AME feels that it needs to confirm the output file's structure.
