exporting at 25fps vs making sequence settings 25fps

Hi, i would like my final video to be 25fps. My footage is 30 and 60fps. Should i set my sequence settings 25fps so on my timeline everything is 25fps. Or, is it better to just use my footage the way it is and when i export it to set it to 25fps. Is there a difference betweeen these two methods and if yes which would you recommend?

thanks

I agree with mgrenadier.

If you want a 25fps final output then start with a 25fps sequence. That way any issues due to mixing frame rates can be seen in your sequence by preview rendering the timeline before export. If you are using Optical flow on the clips - preview rendering these is advised, again to see if you get any artifacting from this process.

Is there a good reason for going with 25fps? Ideally you would use 30 unless (for example) you are delivering a 25fps master for broadcast transmission.

thanks, i ended up deciding to go with 30fps, i was still trying to figure out which fps was best but i am going with 30.

I have no idea, but... why not do a comparison test and let us know the results... My instinct says make your sequence 25fps and when you drop in your 30 and 60fps material experiment with the different time interpolation option by selecting  the clip in the timeline and choosing speed/duration from the clip menu.  I'd guess that optical flow would give you the best results...  bwdik.  It's an interesting question.    I'm actually doing a test now to see if there's any difference changing the time interpolation settings on a clip in the timeline with a different frame rate than the sequence.... will post back...

ok.  so I dropped a 23.976 clip into a 29.97 fps timeline (both progressive) and duplicated it and set one for optical flow and the other for frame blending.  The optical flow looks great.  if I look at it frame by frame I do see some serious artifacts that are not visible to me when it's playing...  So Elazar, do some tests and let us know what you see...

and remember that if there are 30 or 60 fps shots that you just want to play out at 25fps (so you're just changing the playback frame rate - so each frame stays as it is), you can "interpret" that individual clip  so that premiere see's it at 25fps...  Not sure if I'm explaining this clearly, so if it doesn't make sense, post back or maybe someone else can step up and and explain it in a clearer fashion
