Question

Extreme Lag with 25.3 June 2025.

Hi,

 

Experiencing extreme lag. I press play and it doesnt start playing for about 10 seconds. Impossible to edit now.

 

I am assuming it's the new update as last week the same project worked fine. Timeline is about 35 mins long. no effets just cutting clips.

 

Cleared Cache, downloaded versions older ( Now trying 25.1) having the same issues with them all. Relinked all media, nothing is working.

Audio and frame errors too. For a prject that worked fine last week I am clueless now.

What happens if you revert to 25.2? For some Mac users at least, that gets them going again.

I tried 25.2 a few days ago, didn't help at all. Just tried it again and suddenly it's burst back into life and no lag?! Thank you this has worked!

This all sounds pretty horrible. 

It looks as if Adobe guys now engaged so they will hopefully solve it for you.

One last thing I would check is that on opening the 'Wrench' on right bottom side of Program monitor you don't have 'High Quality playback'  accidently ticked?.

It's causing chaos as I'm in peak wedding season! Thank you but yes its on a low quality playback.

Audio Hardware is fine as stated above.

 

Build:

Imac 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

Radeon Pro 575X 4 GB

16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

 

Running the media off an SSD. Using the exact same timeline as last week but this week it is unbareable. never had any issues using this build and settings for the past year

Its clearly a common element affecting all versions now.

I assume you tried the old favourite of Reseting Preferences?

Hold Shift during Premiere Start up on Windows.

Then what about your Audio Hardware settings. Do you have 'No Input' on the Selection - see attached snip. That one for some strange reason causes very glitchy Play on timeline if not set to No Input.

 

Nest step I would completely clear your graphics driver and clean all traces. Then reload the latest Graphics NVidia /AMD whatever you use (I'm assuming Windows as you didn't state Windows or Mac). Do a clean install.

I'm on Mac! Nope, Just looked and my input is set to built in currently. I've cleared absolutley eveything. So frustrated as I'm now on Day 2 of trying to find a solution and loosing earnings!

Yep, literatlly tried everything in the last 24 hours. Didn't work!
