The app just does not function. Takes forever to complete simple tasks such as moving the pin in the timeline or moving clips around. Then causes my computer to freeze and the only option is to hard restart my laptop.

Hi there,

Thanks for the system details. Your Intel Iris Xe is an integrated GPU, so the type of media you're editing can also significantly impact performance.

What kind of footage are you working with? Please let us know the codec, resolution, frame rate, and source (camera, phone, screen recording, game capture, etc.). Formats such as 4K/60 H.264 or HEVC can be especially demanding.

As a first step, quit Premiere, then hold Alt while launching it to open the Reset options dialog.

Try deleting all media cache files, and you can also test once with third-party video plug-ins disabled.

If performance is still poor, consider creating proxies or transcoding the media to an editing-friendly format. Adobe has a guide here:

Proxy workflow in Premiere

Please also let us know your exact Premiere version and Intel graphics driver version.

Thanks,
Kevin
