Question

Extremely slow HEVC import results in an audio-only clip in Premiere even though Premiere itself rendered the file

Trying to check a final export that took 15 hours to render. Rendered in Adobe Media Encoder CC 2018 to HEVC, VLC can play the video and audio flawlessly but Premiere, AME, and After Effects all only see the audio. Plus, it takes forever to import. I thought it was frozen several times until I just let it wait on the import dialog for a half an hour while it imported. The file is 25GB so I'm wondering if that is the reason.

    What is it you're 'checking'?

My mistake that phrasing made no sense - I meant I want to open or import

and then play back an exported file in Premiere to check it before

finishing the project. I can open it in VLC, but Premiere and all other

Adobe apps recognize only the audio track, and only after showing

"Importing" at 100% for around 45 minutes.

If VLC works, why use PP?

I mean, I get that something isn't working, but...do you really need it to?

I would also add that I think you should be checking all exports on a calibrated TV, not a computer.  So I'm wondering why this work flow?  My thinking is this is probably something you can ignore and move on from.  It won't prevent delivery.
