English by Google:

When I place a mask on a video or settings layer using the Rectangle, Ellipse, or Pen tool and try to animate it, Premiere Pro doesn't automatically create a second keyframe at the endpoint.

If I create the second keyframe manually, the first one is ignored; the mask doesn't move but remains in the second position.

This occurs with both video footage and images.

Nesting the footage, as suggested by some sources, didn't help, nor did uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere Pro.

This problem has been occurring since Premiere Pro 26.0 and also in the beta version.

I'm working on a Mac Studio with macOS 14.8.3.

Thank you so much for the help, I simply overlooked the new Clip and Frame Mode.

    The problem is solved. 🤗

    @PT_Andre,

Also, the new masking tools and procedures have a significant learning curve. The Beta explanation is good overview with details, but also see the helpx pages. Start with Redesigned Rectangle, Ellipse, and Pen tools and work down in the index to the left.

    https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-video-effects/create-masks-and-composites/rectangle-ellipse-and-pen-masks.html

As of today, 1/28/26, the helpx pages contain some old content regarding masks. The ones  that are clearly active have a “Last updated” date of Jan 21, 2026 or newer.

When you want to make a manual animated mask, the Program Monitor needs to be in Frame Mode and not Clip Mode.

Use object masking in Premiere Pro
