file importer issue xmp and metadata

I’ve looked in every forum possible and i have never had issues importing .avi files to convert to .mp4 before now!!  I’ve been doing so for 2 years now with zero issues.  I just got a new laptop, so disk space isn’t even remotely a problem.  I use Maya 2026, and export playblasts as .avi (the only format for playblasts without rendering which would take me hours rather than seconds), and the only way I can import a video into a sequence is if the quality/scale has been reduced, resulting in a grainy and pixelated product.  Why won’t it let me upload full 100% quality versions of my playblasts when I have been able to before.  It says its a metadata xmp issue and there’s nothing but *exporter* issues resolved online.  Pls help
