Fill Right to Left Audio Effect Not Working

I have an audio track I’ve already edited that is only playing out of the left speaker. When I drag the fill right with left effect into the timeline, there is a circle with a line through it and it won’t let me do it.

The track is a multichannel mapped to mono. Is there a way that I can change this to a multichannel mapped to stereo so the audio is even?

I'm not even sure how or why it was mapped to mono. Is this an option that I can alter?

so I found the answer is... try to nest your audio, then inside the audio nest try to play, It already plays both right and left, so copy and paste it into your sequence folder

could you post a screenshot of your timeline and one of the track mixer.

Fill left/right can only be used on stereo clips.

Post screenshot of clip in modify > audio channels.

I see.

When i go to the file in the project panel and select modify, it allows me to switch it to stereo, but not for the clips already edited on the timeline.

Could a way around this to be unlink and re-link the audio to a converted stereo file?
