Find Premiere project file from AE project

So a project file is missing that I'm trying to locate, it's like it just disappeared, no remanants anywhere, however I do have the AE linked file but, in the project panel, there is no extension showing to the linked Comp. So frustration, I always save my projects in a specified folder, no idea how it could just go missing.

UPDATE: I found the project file!! but it was really cumbursome. for whatever reason, running a search with the right name didn't bring up any results which was strange, I basically just went through every folder on my SSD, and I had another project I was editing around then, I went back to that project location (from around 3 months ago) and boom, it was saved in that same folder. My mistake for sure, but I do wish there was an easier way to find projects. Anyways, thanks for the help, happy editing!

There is actually a better way. Use any file manager such as Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac and select the disk and do a search for *.prproj . All Premiere Pro projects end with .prproj and by adding * you search the whole disk for all Premiere Pro project files on that disk.

On Windows one can select This PC to do a search simultaneously on all disks. I am sure that there is a way to do that on Mac as well.

are you working on external drives?

where are your cache files located?

are there autosaves of the project anywhere?

are you on the latest updates of both premiere pro and after effects?

doing backups is always a good idea, especially that you have

dynamically linked comps.

Here is the situation, I do edit on an external drive but always place project files in a specific folder (it isn't there), I have scoured through every single cache file, auto save etc - by date / timestamp, it's only that one particular time where there is no autosaves, nothing. but, the AE file which is dynamically linked is saved perfectly fine, so it has to be pulling data from the prproj file right? so disheartening and annoying, ive started rebuilding the project again.. but yeah if there is a way to reverse search the dynamically linked comp, that would be a lifesaver.
