Question

Finding a movie player for accurate playback ..?

I'm currently using a 2009 Imac, and the bounced movie in question is H.264, Youtube HD setting.

In the Pr program monitor, things look accurate, but I can't always get smooth playback when my projects become too dense (even after rendering). If I bounce my movie, things playback smoothly in Quicktime player, but they don't look accurate (washed out colors or something). In VLC, things look accurate, but won't playback smoothly. RealPlayer performance was a mix between quicktime and VLC. At the moment, the only workaround I have is to bounce the movie, email it to myself, and watch it on my ipad, where, for some reason, it both looks and plays back correctly. Can anybody shed any potential light on this situation? thnx!

I think you're going about this the wrong way.  If you want to QC your footage, you really need to get it off the computer and onto a calibrated TV from a hardware device.

Which version of QuickTime are you using? QuickTime 7 or Quicktime X?

Do you have QuickTime Player 7 on your computer? If would be in Applications > Utilities  folder.

If so, launch it and set the Preferences to Use High Quality Video setting when available and Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility:

and try playing it in QT7.
