Question

Float audio tracks making Premiere lag?

Specs:
Latest version of Premiere, Version 25.2.1
Footage is all MPEG-4, AVC
Windows 10 Pro
i7-5820K, 3.30GHZ
32GB RAM
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1650 SUPER

I'm frustrated with a strange issue that's been going on for a while now. I'm pretty sure it's because of a new kind of audio I'm getting from one of my clients, float 32-bit (I cut weddings). It makes no sense because I work with 4K footage and that is fine, but the audio is making Premiere lag. Not right away when I first start a project, but the more edits I make in the track, the slower it gets, lagging 3-5 seconds whenever I click to make an edit. I turn off the audio tracks so that, as I go through the sequence, it doesn't make edits when I switch cameras, which is a doable workaround, but still irritating. Anyone know how to solve this issue?

Hi karenvideoeditor!

Sorry about the issue. Could you try clearing media cache files? Adjust Audio Hardware Settings: Set the default input in the audio hardware preferences to No Input. This has helped some users with similar issues.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

KR

I tried clearing cache files a while ago. And I did see that 'no imput' possibility on another post and that didn't work either.

Thanks for trying the steps. Are you experiencing performance issues with any specific 32-bit float audio file or all such files?
