Frame sustitution error following PNG image sequence import

Question

When I import a stack of PNG image files into Premiere Pro (v14.0), I get several 'frame substitution recursion attempt aborting after multiple attempts on file:...', errors resulting in multiple black, missing frames in the sequence. There are 283 images, which are 1920x1080, 64bit, labelled sequentially (with none missing), all open without error in other software, and are located on a local drive. I wondered if it was a mismatch between the import frame rate and the project frame rate, but varying this doesn't seem to fix the problem. Any ideas what could be going on?

Thanks for the suggestions. Whilst testing them out it became clear that there is an error with the image files that only appears within Premiere and AE (and one or two other bits of software), but that is overlooked in other software. Still not sure what was wrong, but I have regenerated the image stack and the errors have gone. Thanks for the help!

A few ideas:- Does this also happen when you import the PNG sequence into After Effects?- How much RAM do you have? Pr stores images in RAM, and 64 bit PNGs can be heavy when unpacked to RAM.- Version 14.0 was one of the first versions, you might want to try and update to 14.2.x.
