Full Red Frames showing over footage

I've just started editing a project using footage from a new camera shot at 4K. I'm getting random fully red frames overlaying the footage playback. It shows at random and can sometimes disappears moving the clip around a bit. I've tried updating to latest version and emptying cache but the issue still persists.

I found this answer and it solved my problem

If it is Windows machine, In Premiere Pro > Preferences > Media > Uncheck "Enable accelerated Intel H.264 decoding" > Restart Premiere Pro & Check the red frames

Hey i havent found a solution that works for me but by switching around the order of effects it seemed to go away. I had lumitri, turbulent displace, and echo (in that order). By moving lumitry last it fixed it. Hopefully this helps someone in the future with this obscure issue.

Test 434334, You are absolutely correct. I wish Adobe would highlight your solution as a correct answer. I spend five hours today searching everywhere and trying multiple false paths. Your solution fixed my red frames in Premiere Pro CC 2017 on a Windows 8.1 machine. Thanks!

Have you gone through the full troubleshooting guide?

Pretty much with a couple of exceptions. I'd rather avoid reinstalling Windows. I will try deleting and reinstalling Premiere though, I thought I tried this initially but can't remember now so will give it another go

Pre rendering the timeline seems to clear it up but I still would like to fix the issue without having to do this

The clips are fine in After Effects so its just an issue with Premiere

Hello Ashley0432,

Thanks for providing the sample file.

I imported it on my machine [Win 10, NVIDIA Quadro K2100M, Premiere Pro 11.0.2] and it works without any issues.

Jim_Simon, can you test it on your end?

Thanks,

Rameez

Hi Ashley0432,

What's the make and model of the camera?

Which OS are you on?

What are your computer specs? Which GPU is installed in your machine?

What are your sequence settings?

Try changing the Video Renderer to software only under File > Project Settings > General.

Let us know if that helps.

Sony A7s ii - Shooting XAVC S 4K

Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

Intel Core i7-4790K CPU

16GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce FTX 960

Tried in both 1080 and 4k Sequences

Changing the video render settings to software only has definitely improved it. It still does it to a couple clips but is much better. What does this mean?

Hi Ashley0432,

By changing the Video Renderer to software only, Premiere Pro will not use the GPU to generate previews.

Additionally, do you mind updating the Video Card drivers and see if that makes any difference?

Thanks,

Rameez
