Garbage mask shows in my exported video when viewed on a Iphone but nowhere else

Question

I filmed a video on a white background and used a garbage mask to extend the white background with a white color matte. When viewing the video on a computer monitor or Android phone all looks good. When viewed on a iPhone I see the mask and the white color matte goes grey. Any idea why this is?

The white in your video isn't the same white as your white color matte.

You want to be working with a display capable of showing sublte variations in whites.

Then try applying Color Key to knock out the white of the video background, nudging the Edge Thin and Edge Feather values to soften the white edges around your subject. It will help to apply a levels or curves adjustment prior to applying Color Key.
