Generative extend not working on REC 709 Clip

When I try using generative extend, I'm told my clip needs to use REC 709 color space.

My clip is 3840x2160, 23.98fps, REC 709.

I'm on 25.2.1.

See attached.

Well, for this instance we'll have to conclude it's a downside of the mac.

As far as this 'principle' of yours, we'll it's not Golden Rule, but if it makes you happy.

And do join us in PC world if you like.

Hey, we're other users, and we all understand the frustrations that seem endemic to video post.

I work for/with/teach pro colorists, mostly based in Resolve, many of them natually Mac geeks. And MediaInfo is even within that crowd an oft used utility app. And there are numberous Mac-based folks on here, like staffer @Kevin-Monahan , who are also users of MediaInfo.

Without paying that silly buck ...

And yea, that site is a mess of other things as that's probably how they pay for the 'freeware' of something like MediaInfo. But I've always been able to look for a moment, and figure out which button is actually only for MediaInfo, and nothing else. It's very possible.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Thanks. The link takes me to the app store. And again, it's not free. Again, I pay Adobe monthly for my software. So I'm unwilling to buy an app that I'll use once, even if it's just a dollar. Not because I'm cheap, but on priciple.

Use this link for MediaInfo and it's home page.

Sure @MyerPj . Your message didn't include the link so if you send it I'd appreciate it.

You can get it free on the link I gave you. It's a good tool for the tool box. On Mac you have to pay for use of the "tree view" for some reason, but the other display formats are just as informative.

I googled and found the Mediainfo app on the Mac app store. But it feels weird to pay $1 for an app I will literally use one time.

I pay Adobe every month. Adobe is touting this new feature and lays out the specs. My clip is shot in a very common format (Sony MXF) that meets the specs, and yet premiere is saying it does not. But I don't want to pay $1 to get an answer that isn't likely to fix the issue. I realize how cheap that sounds, but it feels like the right principle.

Anybody else got an idea? Thanks.

Hey, ghetto man, <ha, ha>. So, MediaInfo is a program which most of us use around here, and it's excellent,  here's a link to the main page, maybe it will pass your hi-brow 'ghetto' test, but if not no worries. Cheers.

Here is a screenshot of the media properties from Premiere Pro. I forced the color space to Rec 709 (even though it was already being interpreted as Rec 709) and that did not unlock generative extension.

I didn't download MyerPJ's suggested app because the site was extremely ghetto and every download link was actually to a search extension for my browser, not for the app it described. I included a screenshot.

thanks

Hi @JesseSchluntz

Thanks for submitting your bug report. Stan is right; it would be helpful to see the full media information. What happens if you choose to override the color space to Rec. 709? Does that make a difference?

I hope we can help you shortly. Sorry for the pain points.
