GH6 120FPS Project riddled with error when slowing footage
I shoot a lot of live events with my GH6 at 120fps (10bit, mov). I run into problems with larger premiere projects as it's refusing to render the footage properly. I've tried many things, but to save you some time, I went into premiere and changed the INTERPOLATION to assume 120FPS, the default was 119.87 with 1fps as a choice for custom that I changed to 120fps. Footage was now usable and rendered properly in previews and exports.
My two cents:
I currently run a 5950x with 64gb RAM, M2 storage and cache on a win 10. Premiere runs like hot garbage on this sytem as it did on all my other high end windows workstations. Every single project requires rendering in/out just to preview at anything HD or larger. Other NLEs run like butter and barely tax the system. Even with proxies, it seems to struggle, so I'm not sure where the bottleneck is exactly, as it's excluse to Adobe software, but because it's consistent with different high end hardware, I'm placing the blame at Adobe's feet. I'm not alone.
Recently, I picked up a macbook M1 Pro and the same project previews in real time with all effects enabled smoothly. So my workflow now is to rough edit on the mac and then use the windows machine for effects etc as almost all of them are windows exclusive effects anyway. It's working, but this just shouldn't be a thing in my opinion. I love the new features Adobe is releasing, they're really great, I just wish the rendering engine would be revamped and actually use all the power I have on my PC like other programs do so I could work more and wait less.
Just leaving this here for anyone who might have the same issue.
