Glitch in selecting clips

I'm noticing what I think is a glitch. I'm editing a clip, and I make two cut marks around a section I want to remove. I use my cursor to highlight that section, but after highlighting it, Premiere highlights a clip just to the right, a clip on a track with toggling enabled. This is annoying because then I have to re-select the clip I want to cut.
