Question

GPU Not Utilized

Hi,

Premiere was working perfectly with Immersive GPU effects, and final rendering.

Without warning Pr began throwing the "This effect requires GPU acceleration", and failed to utilise the GPU for rendering altogether. (Media Encoder behaves the same.)

Spent hours trying but cannot solve the issue.

This system did run GPU effects and final rendering correctly on the GPU without any issues, but then something happened and now it fails.

There were no system modifications prior to the failure, this seems to be a spontaneous fault.

Pr and MediaEncoder still recognize the GPU and displays CUDA as the target renderer, no other setting or configuration has changed.

System Specs:

  • CPU: i9-7900X
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (with latest drivers)
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Pr: 14.0.3 (Build 1)
  • MB: ASUS PRIME X299 DELUXE

Prior to GPU failure, Pr and Media Encoder rendered out video at real time speeds. After failure, rendering takes 10 - 30 times longer. This is the real problem

Any help would be appreciated,

Simon Le Serve (Melbourne)

Update: DaVinci Resolve is utilizing the GPU and rendering at faster than real time speeds. This is all I was expecting from Pr.

The move to DaVinci Resolve turned out to be a blessing in disguise however. Thank you for your inability to address the problem.

Subscription cancelled ... moving to something more reliable - DaVinci Resolve

Reliable?

If you use the effects as intended for 360 degree footage you would not have a problem.

Try 442.55 or the Studio Driver 442.19:

Are you using Immersive GPU effects on non immersive footage?

Thanks for responding,

I don't know what immersive footage is but i don't think so. The footage i'm working with was working perfectly previously with immersive GPU effects, then it failed and won't work again ...

The footage is from a Canon 5D iv and Black Magic Design (Pro Res) both these are now failing.
